The 16 selected talents of the Foam Talent Call 2012 have been announced. From 30 January until 16 April, young photographers from around the world submitted work to the yearly Talent Call of the international quarterly photography magazine, Foam Magazine. The Foam Talent Call is one of the photographic industry's most prestigious contests for young photographers. There were a total of 974 submissions from 64 different countries, making this year even more successful than last year's Talent Call. The final 16 selected talents include,
Olga Cafiero (CH), Laura El Tantawy (UK/EG), Shane Lavalette (USA), Marleen Sleeuwits (NL), Giulio Sarchiola (IT), Alejandro Cartagena (MX), Popel Coumou (NL), Grace Kim (USA), Maroesjka Lavigne (BE), Fabio Messias (BR), Tomoe Murakami (JP), Noemie Goudal (FR), Ali Taptik (TR), Antonio Zambardino (IT), Esther Teichmann (DE/USA) and Samuel Falls (USA).
Work by these talents will be shown at Unseen: Marleen Sleeuwits (Liefhertje en De Grote Witte Reus), Popel Coumou (TORCH Gallery), Noemie Goudal (Edel Assanti) and Ali Taptik (The Empire Project). The Foam Magazine #32 / Talent issue will be launched in September 2012 at Unseen. The launch will include a large billboard exhibition of the selected photographers in the surrounding Westerpark. This issue reflects on relationships between photography and reference and presents portfolios which refer each in their own way to other photos, a specific visual style or language, or to stereotypical visual elements that we recognize from other photographic genres.
